A Message from our Executive Director - Michael Rosen
You would be hard-pressed to find another charitable organization whose inaugural fundraiser was more fulfilling than Project Main St.’s April 17th, 2006 event at the Supper Club in NYC. Our benefit for Tim Sheehy can only be described as a magical evening. We raised more than $225,000, exceeding all expectations, with the net proceeds going directly to Tim and Katie Sheehy. It was an unqualified financial success but for most of the 375 in attendance, it was Tim’s display of dignity and courage along with the audience’s spontaneous expression of love and compassion that we always remember.
The highlights of the evening were many; The heartfelt speeches from life long friends, Tim’s emotional greeting to the equally emotional crowd, his beautiful and poignant speech, delivered lovingly by his sister-in-law Megan, the thrilling live auction, where people gave generously and without hesitation, and the emotionally charged concert by Tim’s college pals Hootie & The Blowfish all left us with indelible memories.
In the weeks following April 17th we received countless phone calls and emails from people who wanted to let us know how profoundly moved they were that evening. The effect on those of us who worked to put the event together was equally intense. Tim gave us the blueprint and the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of others. Those of you who supported us that evening strengthened our belief that Project Main St. could help people for years to come. In the end, that was all Tim really wanted.
On behalf of The Sheehy Family, Project Main St.’s board members and our entire volunteer staff, thank you for a night that we will never forget.
Sincerely,
Michael Rosen
